The September Issue || Fall Must-Haves

September 09, 2014

September is here!! You know what that means...fall fashion will be in full swing in a few short weeks!

Here's my go-to list for updating your fall wardrobe:

1. Cognac Riding Boots

This classic staple can be worn with jeans, a dress, or some comfy leggings. The rich cognac color makes a relatively inexpensive boot look more high-end.

My favorite brand for riding boots is Bandolino because for the price, the quality is fantastic. They also have styles that accommodate wide-calves (which I suffer from), and they're super comfy!

Bandolino boots are also available through Macy's, DSW, and Zappos.

2. The Perfect Skinny Jean

I.N.C. Skinny Jeans in Diva Wash, $70
As women, we are always on the hunt for the best fitting jean. For me, this is usually an impossible feat because I am 5 foot nothing and have a butt in the shape of a huge onion, with a small waist. Thankfully, I.N.C. from Macy's has dark-wash, comfortable, skinny jeans made for people with my unique body-type. No joke - I own 6 pairs.

Skinny jeans are an essential in fall. I always go with a dark wash because it accentuates the positives and hides the imperfections. Dark wash also dresses up an outfit, and for us twenty-somethings, the days of light wash jeans need to go. The best part about skinny jeans is their versatility - they're perfect with flats, boots, or heels and can be worn with a basic tee and cardigan, sweater or fancy top for a night out.

I.N.C. Colored Skinny Jean in Port, $70
Try on as many different pairs as possible to find the perfect fit for your body. As mentioned, if you're short and curve with a small waist, like myself, the I.N.C. jeans are a home run! And they now come in colors. I will likely be getting a them in Port (deep wine) or Coffee (dark brown).

3. Statement Scarves

Nothing can pull outfit together better than statement accessories. I typically reach for a great statement necklace or earring, but a huge trend for fall comes with statement scarves! I know that may sound odd but they are not only fabulous, but functional. Your outfit will look pulled-together and complete, while affording you the option of additional layering. Statement scarves consist of various tones and shades for versatility, with something special, like a unique pattern or pop of color.

Check out my top picks from Nordstrom:

Filigree Print Scarf in Tan/Ivory, $58

"Floral Foulard" Scarf, $38

Ink Blot Scarf, $48
