Love Day 2014: Truffles, Flowers, & Great Friends

February 20, 2014

Valentine's Day has come and gone, but it was one of the best days I've had in a long time. It started out with a surprise from my boyfriend, Will, who currently lives in Long Island while attending dental school. We have been together 8 years and have never spent a V-day apart. Since I now live in the Philly burbs, we are living approximately three hours away by car. It has been a difficult transition and we miss each other very much. We met at the tender age of 15 and on our first Valentine's Day he bought me The Notebook and cupcakes... I was sold! He surprised me this V-day with the beautiful present of truffles and flowers! Anyone who knows me, knows the way to my heart is through food (especially dessert), so the truffles really made my day. I will say, however, that I am one lucky girl, because he brings me chocolates and other yummy treats all the time.

Will has been my rock through some of the most difficult times in my life, especially this past year. I truly believe that Valentine's Day means so much more than celebrating only romantic kind of love though - it's about all love. I consider myself so blessed to have great family and friends and I've been extra blessed with the incredible friends I have made in law school. These girls are truly beautiful, inside and out. They met me at a terribly turbulent time: I was living away for the first time alone in a new place, my mom and I were in a personal/legal battle against a repulsive sorry-excuse-for-a-man who I will not name, my beloved grandpa had just passed, and my boyfriend was miles away. I was a hot mess trying to hold it all together. These girls welcomed me with open arms and hearts. I found such a special connection with every one of them and I am so thankful for their friendship. On Valentine's Day evening, I was able to celebrate our bond with fabulous drinks and dinner at P.F. Chang's.

As I mentioned, these girls are beautiful inside and out, so please check out a few of my friends' fab outfits and accessories for our V-day girls night out !
Grace - "Preppy with an Edge"

For our night out, Grace anchored her outfit with 'always skinny dark-wash' pants from the Gap. She paired a comfy over-sized black v-neck, also from the Gap, with a ivory blazer from Banana Republic. The blazer was a recent purchase and she got an additional two in hot pink and houndstooth. To complete her ensemble, her accessories included a pop-of-color clutch in red from Banana Republic and black T-Strap heels from H&M (not seen in picture). Grace is currently in the process of adding an extra edge to her look.

Meg - "Classic with a Twist"

Meg had the classic V-day ensemble without being decked out in red or pink. She paired an LBD by Tate with her go-to black booties (she said she's had them for years and has had them re-soled! Great tip for keeping your fav shoes lasting even longer!). Black tights from T.J. Maxx (2 for $12), a maroon & gold bauble collar necklace from a consignment shop in Philly ($3), and Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick in "Rossetto #11" completed her gorgeous look! Makeup can be an accessory too ladies!

Danielle - "Edgy Chic"

Danielle wore a chic palette of denim, cream, nude, and a pop of red! Her shoes are by Steve Madden and provide the perfect chic edge to any look, day to night. She paired a pair of dark wash jeans with a cream cami and matching blazer. Her Michele watch with black patent leather strap and red cross body purse pulled it all together!

Judy - "The Flower Child"

Judy totally has the Woodstock, hippie chick look going for her and I love everything about it! Her love of flowers shined through in her choice of dress, which is from Forever 21. She completed her outfit with a crystal floral headband, tights, and boots from DSW.

Kristyn - "Effortlessly Chic"

No matter what the day, Kristyn looks effortless, polished and comfortable. For our night out, she decided to pull her best options from a selection of T.J. Maxx finds. With a fabulous pair of black pants, a black tank and black flats, she threw on a kelly green sweater with a black and white print scarf! Perfectly balanced outfit!

Jordan - "Timelessly Classic"

You can almost always find Jordan in a skirt or dress, which highlight her statuesque physique (I wish I had her gorgeous legs!). For our night out, she paired a black top with a black skirt and camel cardigan. The mix of black and camel is timeless! And one of my fav color combos! To add to her always pulled together outfit, she completed her ensemble with black and gold watch and gold and crystal necklace.
