To say August has been a whirlwind would be an understatement.
It will forever be the happiest month of my life. On Saturday, August 1, 2015, at approximately 4:00pm, the boy I grew up with, now my future husband, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!
I am simply overjoyed about our engagement. The past few years have been quite challenging for me with many difficult situations, including the passing of my beloved Grandpa, but for the first time in a long time, I feel utter happiness. We won't begin wedding planning until next year since my last year of law school will be incredibly demanding, but that certainly hasn't stopped the excitement and fun. Our goal for this year is to get fall engagement pictures taken and possibly plan an engagement party to properly celebrate with family and friends.
I know all you girls are waiting for the proposal story and dets on my ring. So here we go - Will proposed to me at Great Kills Park in our hometown of Staten Island, NY. As teens, we spent a lot of time there and when we were about 16, as we sat on the beach together, he told me that one day he would propose to me. I laughed off his endearing comment, but he is truly a man of his word. Keeping his end of the bargain, he took me back to that same spot on the beach and asked me to marry him. I sobbed tears of joy and we celebrated. It was perfect - just the two of us. Although Will and I had been discussing and looking for rings for quite a few months, I was definitely not expecting a proposal that day. I was just getting over the summer flu and we were leaving for our Bermuda cruise with his parents the following day. I had gotten my nails re-done that morning, after I went to a new place that completely messed them up the night before (long story... #nailprobs), and was waiting to met Will at my house for lunch. He usually takes my blog pictures for me so he pretended that he needed me to help him with pictures for a car race thing he was doing. I was completely surprised, especially since my hair was dirty and I was in Walmart leggings haha! Nonetheless, it was completely perfect. Just him and I ... back at the place where our love story began.
Our immediate family and friends arrived at my house not long after and we celebrated with champagne!
My ring is an exclusive design to the Sydney Rosen Company here in Philadelphia. I highly recommend them for their professionalism, fabulous quality and incredible pricing. My stone is a round brilliant cut diamond set in a U-prong setting with round brilliant stones going 3/4 of the way around the band.
To make our engagement even better, Will's parents were kind enough to take us on a cruise to Bermuda. That was planned months in advance, but it turned into the perfect engagementmoon!
