The Bigger the Bun, The Better!

I am on an eternal hunt to find simple techniques to give myself a new hair style. Makeup I can do, but hair...not so much.

The hot trend on the block a few months back was the high ballerina bun. I had pinned numerous tutorials on Pinterest that required a sock...But that proved to be completely unsuccessful. My hair is very thin, although long enough to do make a fabulous bun, so I was determined to find a way.

On of my absolute favorite celeb hairstylists, Sarah Potempa (Creator of the Beachwaver - click to read my review), debuted an innovative bun-making tool called The Wrap Up. I really liked it, but it seemed to be better suited for making low buns and for people with thicker hair.
*You can purchase it on Amazon for around $12. Apparently it comes in all different shades now, including black, brunette, and blond. I purchased the black since it was the only option at the time and it matched my dark hair well.

While perusing Bed, Bath and Beyond, I discovered an inventive little brillo-like, donut-shaped bun maker called Hot Buns.  This thing is fantastic! It's a bit odd looking but SUPER easy to use. If I can do it, anyone can. The best part? It's under $7 with a B,B&B coupon.

It comes with two sizes, but I always use the big one...I wholeheartedly believe in the phrase "the Higher the Hair, the Close to Heaven" and I can use all the blessings I can get at this point

I know what your thinking...it's an "As Seen on TV" product. I promise you, this nifty thing will change your life. All you have to do, as the above image shows, is put your hair in a slicked-back high ponytail and roll your hair forward onto the Hot Bun. Once all hair is rolled on, snap the clasp on the back, and move your hair around the entire donut. The instructions say to use the little elastic to keep it all in place, but I never have. Your hair will be secure enough without it. I will sometimes use bobby pins for extra hold, but they aren't necessary.
